The Ant and the Grasshopper film screening
The film chronicles the dreadful effects of the 7 year drought in Malawi and a brave woman’s efforts to save her village.
In the film, Anita travels from Malawi to the Midwest, to California and
to the White House, persuading Americans that climate change is real.Along the way, she meets climate skeptics and despairing farmers. Her journey takes her across all the divisions shaping the US, from the rural-urban divide, to schisms of race, class and gender, to the thinking that allows Americans to believe we live on a different planet from everyone else and that our actions don’t impact people in
other parts of the world.
As the film progressed, the gathered came to understand the importance of doing our part here, where we live, to alleviate the climate crisis in order to enable Anita and her community to live and prosper in Malawi.
A vibrant conversation ensued after the screening about simple steps we can take in our homes, churches, and communities to do our part.
