Sunday, May 14: Rogation Sunday Neighborhood Prayer Walk
What is Rogation Sunday in the Episcopal Church? Traditionally, these are the three days before Ascension Day on which the litany is sung (or recited) in procession as an act of intercession. They originated in Vienne, France, in the fifth century when Bishop Mamertus introduced days of fasting and prayer to ward off a threatened disaster.
Join Deacon Phina Borgeson for a leisurely stroll exploring our Incarnation neighborhood on Sunday, May 14, after the 10:15 liturgy. In the spirit of historic rogation processions, we will strengthen our neighborliness as we attend, question, converse, and pray. Bring your camera or camera phone, water bottle, and hat. A map and notes will be provided that day for everyone, including those who can’t join us, but would like to walk a short route or a longer one at a later time. We will be pulling together the photos we take as a way of helping all of us better to know our neighbors and our neighborhood.
