Sunday Forum Resumes April 23
Our regular 9:00 adult Sunday Forum will be on hiatus for Palm Sunday, Easter Day, and the Second Sunday of Easter (April 16).
Sunday Forum will resume on April 23 and run through May 21 before going on summer break. Here's our schedule for the rest of spring:
Sundays, April 23 and 30: Parables of Salvation, led by the Rev. Dr. Ellen Wondra
In his parables and actions, Jesus gives us multiple images of salvation from what afflicts and damages human beings and creation. In these two forums, we’ll explore four such images: liberation, restoration, wholeness, and holiness. What’s going on that we need God in Christ to act in these ways? What does it mean to be human between the Fall and the Kingdom of God?
Sundays, May 7 and May 14: Learning from Our Native Neighbors, led by Pastor Stephen and our Going Beyond Land Acknowledgments Group
Last year a group of several Incarnationians participated in a learning experience with Redbud Resource Group, a Native-led organization here in Sonoma County that works to build connections between Native and non-Native groups. We learned about the history and present reality of Native people here in Sonoma County, including the Southern Pomo people on whose historic territory we worship, and what it might mean to be allies to our indigenous neighbors today. We learned about land acknowledgments, which many organizations are creating today, and what it might mean for us to adopt one as a congregation. Our group will share some of what we've learned, including a first draft land acknowledgment, and invite you to join with us in finding our next steps.
Sunday, May 21: Sacred Encounters With Our Neighbors Experiencing Homelessness, led by Rebecca Kendall
In this forum we’ll learn about the many faces of homelessness, share what resources are available in this community for people who are unhoused, and talk about how you can participate in sacred encounters with people experiencing homelessness.
