Saturday, September 14, 8:30-11:00 a.m.: Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers, Readers' Meeting
Have you ever thought about being an Acolyte--someone who helps lead Sunday services by carrying a cross or torch and assisting at the altar?
Have you thought about being a Eucharistic Minister--someone who serves the consecrated Bread and Wine of Holy Communion?
Have you thought about being a Reader--someone who proclaims the scriptures in Sunday services so we can hear God's Word?
If you serve in one of these ministries already, or if you're interested in getting involved, please plan to attend our annual gathering for Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers, and Readers on Saturday, September 14. We'll start at 8:30 in the church with some overall conversation about serving as leaders in worship. Then we'll break into two groups from 9 to 10, one for Readers and the other for Acolytes and Eucharistic Ministers. Those who serve in only one or the other group can go home at 10. For those who serve in both, we'll have a second session from 10 to 11.
Serving as a Reader, an Acolyte, or a Eucharistic Minister is a special way to experience yourself as a leader in our weekly worship and get a "front-row seat" as we make church together. Anyone of any age is invited to be trained for these ministries. Eucharistic Ministers undergo additional training and receive a special license from the Bishop. For more information on any of these ministries, contact Diana Ardley at [email protected].
