Open Table is Many Things to Many People
To our parish, it’s a unique and visible weekly ministry we offer to some of our most vulnerable neighbors. To our volunteers, it’s a way to help in so many ways, and we’ve grown to enjoy each other’s company as we work. To our guests, it’s often a lifeline, especially on those cold, wet winter mornings such as we experienced earlier this year. It’s a big wonderfully satisfying weekly “production” but we need more help!
Every Sunday, our Farlander Hall doors open to up to 80 of our unsheltered neighbors where they can enjoy a hot, homemade breakfast, fellowship and a healthy bag lunch, in a warm, safe and supportive environment. We also provide free clothing and hygiene items for our guests, as items are available.
There are so many ways all of us can help.
Because of some lost funding opportunities (the Incarnation 100 bike event helped fund Open Table for many years), our greatest need now is for financial support - tax deductible donations..to donate, please go to https://www.incarnationsantarosa.org/online-giving/ and add a comment "Give To Open Table”. If serving a hot homemade breakfast early Sunday mornings is not your thing, we need help on Fridays and Saturdays - shopping and preparing food. Even a few hours a month would make a big difference. This summer, our clothing and hygiene program is in special need of men and women’s sport pants and sport shoes, men’s belts, reader glasses, clean lightweight jackets and T-shirts, and hygiene items such as lotion, dental supplies, and hairbrushes.
Incarnation can justly be proud of this weekly caring ministry, and we invite you to be a part of it, in whatever way fits your schedule and interest.
