Shrove Tuesday, March 4, 6:00 p.m.: Pancake Supper and Bingo Night

Shrove Tuesday is the traditional name for the day before Ash Wednesday--a last day to feast and celebrate before we enter into the simplicity of Lent. This year we will be resurrecting a past Incarnation tradition of holding a pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday evening, plus bingo night! Plans include:
- A pancake dinner with all the trimmings. Please sign up here so we can get a headcount, and to let us know if you're able to help as a volunteer.
- Bingo. Mardi Gras deserves a little celebration, so let's have some old-fashioned bingo fun!
- Mask making and decorating for kids and adults like.
- Costumes: encouraged! But not required! Come as you are, or come in your finest crazy party garb!
- The burial of the Alleluias. During the season of Lent the joyful shout of "Alleluia" (Hebrew for "Praise the Lord!") is omitted from all our liturgies. So to help us say goodbye to the Alleluia, we roll up our big Alleluia banner, put it in a capsule, and bury it under the floorboards of the church for the six weeks of Lent.
- The burning of the palms. The ashes for Ash Wednesday are traditionally made from the palms used in the previous year's celebration of Palm Sunday. People often take the blessed palms home and put them somewhere in their homes to serve as a sign of blessing. You're invited to bring your (now-dried) palms back to church and we'll burn them during our celebration.
