Looking Ahead: Presiding Bishop Michael Curry Comes to Our Diocese for a Revival, April 26-27, 2024!
Our diocese is planning an extra-special gathering this April. The Most Rev. Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, will be with us to lead a revival! "What's a revival," you ask? Good question! According to the planning team,
"An Episcopal revival is a dedicated series of gatherings that combine inspiring worship, compelling teaching, honest faith- sharing, intensified prayer, and some form of engagement with the mission of God — all for the sake of the spiritual renewal and transformation of people and of society."
Maybe a shorter way to put it is that our revival will be a huge celebration of God's work in our diocese: a party, a worship service, and a chance to learn and grow in faith, all in one.
The revival theme is "Fearless Faith: Planting Love & Harvesting Hope." It will include a series of workshops at Trinity Cathedral, Sacramento, on the afternoon of Saturday, April 26, led by incredible leaders from around the Episcopal Church, followed by a fun-filled outdoor event on the grounds of St. John’s, Roseville, with food trucks, vendors, and activities before the main worship service that evening at 6:30. There will also be a special fundraising dinner with the Presiding Bishop and an event for youth from around our diocese on the previous evening, Friday, April 26.
We are hoping that lots of people from all around our diocese will plan to attend. Bus transportation is being organized and there will be hotel options available. Here's what you can do now to help:
(1) Mark your calendar for April 26-27, 2024!
(2) Take the revival planning survey that our diocesan planning team has put together. Here you can help the team by sharing your interest in various events as well as what kinds of transportation and lodging options you might be interested in. You are not making a commitment by taking the survey, you're simply helping the team plan by knowing what people's needs and wishes are.
