From the Rector: Fearless Faith Revival
Dear friends,
Last weekend's Fearless Faith Revival was an amazing experience. It brought together people from the 63 congregations of our Episcopal Diocese of Northern California for workshops, celebration, and worship. The event began with a fundraising dinner at Trinity Cathedral, Sacramento, on Friday evening and continued with a daylong celebration at St. John's, Roseville, on Saturday. Speakers from across the Episcopal Church led workshops on creation care, evangelism, racial justice, Latino ministry, and ministry with young adults. Booths and attractions represented ministries from across our diocese. We were well fed by a selection of food trucks. And the day ended with a Spirit-filled outdoor worship service with messages from the Rev. Canon Stephanie Spellers and Bishop Daniel Gutiérrez. For me as chair of the worship planning team, that part was the highlight both in terms of excitement and of hard work!
We were very well represented at the Revival, with around 15-20 Incarnationians present. At the worship service we took a group selfie and followed it up with an impromptu dance party. Among those present from Incarnation was Miriam Casey, who represented both the diocesan Commission on the Environment and Commission on Intercultural Ministries at the ministry festival. Below you can read her more detailed recap.
Lots of photos from the weekend are available at our diocesan Facebook page, and at some point the full recording of the worship service should be available.
Please pray with me that this Spirit-filled gathering of our diocese will bear fruit: in deepened faith, in new relationships, in individuals and congregations galvanized for new adventures in ministry.
In Christ's love,
Stephen
