From the Green Team: Celebrating the Season of Creation
Starting September 1, our church will be joining other churches as we celebrate the Season of Creation and the Season of Courage. This is a time to reflect, pray, and learn about our role as stewards of "this fragile earth, our island home.” (BCP, Eucharistic Prayer C)
From https://seasonofcreation.org/ , "The Season of Creation is a time to renew our relationship with our Creator and all creation through celebration, conversion, and commitment together. During the Season of Creation, we join our sisters and brothers in the ecumenical family in prayer and action for our common home."
Our 10:15 service will feature special music and prayers for creation during this season. We will also have topical forums during our Sunday Adult Formation Forum sessions, including a discussion on ecotheology, practical ways to engage in creation care, and an afternoon forum exploring local and state ballot issues from the perspective of faith.
The Season of Courage installation, which debuted at our diocesan Fearless Faith Revival in April, will be on display at Incarnation during the Season of Creation. It includes 15 stories about clergy and lay individuals showing courage for social justice and the environment, and an invitation for us to pray for courage. The installation was created as a joint project of our diocese's Commission on the Environment and Commission for Intercultural Ministries, led by our own Miriam Casey, and was originally inspired by worship right here at Incarnation during the season after Epiphany.
