Anam Cara: contemplative prayer and meditation group
Anam Cara, which means ‘Soul Friend’ in Gaelic, is a contemplative prayer/meditation group, and open to all. It was founded by Suzanne Kurtz and Patricia Moore in 2007. We meet twice a month, the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. After chanting a simple chant together, the first 20-30 minutes of our gathering is spent in silent contemplative prayer/meditation. After contemplative prayer, we spend another 30 minutes or so, reading from and reflecting on our current text of choice (examples: The Cloud of Unknowing, The Varieties of Religious Experience).
Ways to be involved:
- Attend the gathering.
- Cantor.
- Pre-gathering set-up when meeting in church/ Post-gathering clean-up.
Leadership: Lisa Jang. Email [email protected]
