Supporting the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem
At our May 29 "Roots of the War for Palestine" forum, Pastor Stephen mentioned the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. The Diocese of Jerusalem is a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion and serves five separate countries or territories: Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Israel. It has about 7000 members in 28 congregations and operates more than 30 additional institutions including hospitals, schools, clinics, rehabilitation centers, guesthouses, and retirement homes. Its Bishop is the Most Rev. Hosam Naoum, who also serves as Archbishop of the wider Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East.
One of the ministries of the Diocese of Jerusalem is Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, which was struck by rocket fire in October, but continued to operate despite extreme conditions. More recently, displaced staff of the Hospital have established a clinic in Rafah.
For those of us located in the United States, tax-deductible contributions to the ministries of the Diocese of Jerusalem are made through the nonprofit American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. Please pray for peace and consider making a contribution to help meet the tremendous needs of all people in the region.
